Think upcycled for recycling day

On this 18th of March, we celebrate the world recycling day. A date to be marked with a white stone as it allows us to glorify the technological and legislative advances in the field of resource recovery. But this day is also an opportunity to look back on all kinds of commitments, whatever the scale of action.

At Alexandre Turpault, we have the ambition to become a virtuous brand, which gives meaning and value to its bed linen and its products. Thus, we have been working for several seasons on the development of so-called upcycled ranges. A process that demonstrates the possibility of offering - successfully - a second youth to old ranges, old colors.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A RECYCLING DAY?

Produce, use, sort, recycle, reuse... Today, we know that the life of an object is no longer limited to a single cycle. Many solutions now exist to revalue and reuse products that have already had a first life. Becoming worldwide in 2018, the recycling day is an opportunity to present the means put in place and their stakes on the planet.

Informing and sensitizing, it is around these concepts that this very special day is organized. Round tables, workshops, collections: it is possible to participate in many events all over France and abroad. Do not hesitate to contact dedicated associations or your municipality to find out more.

For this 2022 edition, the anti-waste law for a circular economy will be fully at the heart of the discussions. Entering into force on January 1, it is based on several important components:

- the end of disposable plastic,

- the use of a single logo for better consumer information,

- a more intense fight against waste and, in particular, against the destruction of unsold non-food items,

- actions against programmed obsolescence,

- etc.

A vast project therefore, which promises a rapid advance towards the change of our modes of production and consumption. A further step in favor of behaviors that preserve the resources of our good old Earth.

BEDDING, TEXTILE : WHAT MEANS ?

Perhaps you are wondering how you can take action at your level? Adopting good consumption and recycling habits on a daily basis can already be very useful. Here are a few ways to help sort and reuse your bedding, linens and other textiles:

- You change your bedding (mattress, comforter, pillows...)? If their condition allows it, your products can be recovered or recycled. You just have to donate them to a local economy structure or to a public waste disposal center. Many companies nowadays also offer to take back your bedding when you buy a new one. Find out more!

- It is no longer necessary to throw away your bath and household linen or your clothes to get rid of them.

TO MAKE BEAUTIFUL, SUSTAINABLE AND VIRTUOUS LINEN

At Alexandre Turpault, we are driven by the desire to produce better, with kindness. In this sense, we wish to be the guarantors of a beautiful linen, top-of-the-range and of quality, thought as a virtuous product. To do this, we are developing several actions in parallel, which we hope to develop over the years and collections.

While we increasingly value natural and noble materials - including French linen and organic cotton - we are also working to develop products made from recycled materials. As an example, we have recently added to our Poetry and Wonder catalog, two models of quilted bedspreads filled with 80% recycled polyester wadding. This rate is now at the maximum of the possibilities offered in the field.

In addition, we value the design of more ecological packaging. Without plastic or mostly in recyclable materials, these new packagings allow us to be proactive in reducing waste.

Finally, the majority of our ranges are made in Europe, or even in France (with products certified "Origine France Garantie" in particular). We thus intend to create an ecosystem concentrated on a reduced transport area and thus limit our impact on the environment.

OUR UPCYCLED CAPSULES

Among our commitments, there are also these limited edition capsules that we love so much: our upcycled. The concept of upcycling? Giving a second life to existing raw materials or to fabrics that are no longer in collection. By doing so, we prove that it is possible to give a second life to our fabrics. Everything we produce should be used, that's our credo.

Another upcycled cushion cover, ASHLYN. Made of linen and silk jacquard, this model is dressed with delicate foliage patterns that give the product a lot of elegance. It comes from the Cassandre model, present in our Fall-Winter 2015 collection.

These two timeless pieces will bring a touch of sophistication to your home, while allowing you to consume more sensibly.

PRACTICAL DRY HOT WATER BOTTLES

The latest addition to our catalog is our dry hot water bottles with linen seeds. They are made from the linen scraps used for our Nouvelle Vague sets. In this way, we make efficient use of what could have been lost and turn it into a nomadic and practical product.
