A prestige that led the brand to become the main supplier of the Bon Marché. The brand, founded by Aristide Boucicaut, is the first Parisian department store and enjoys a growing popularity.
MASSIVE DESTOCKING AND NEW TRADITION
Aristide Boucicaut, along with his friend Alexandre Turpault, created this great promotion of linen called the Month of White. The idea was born from a desire to fill the shelves emptied by customers during the end-of-year holidays. Wishing to continue the development of his store and build customer loyalty, the businessman implemented a new tradition: making January the month of linen. Taking advantage of the fact that he was emptying his stocks, the entrepreneur put a good number of references on promotion, thus continuing to attract crowds despite the end-of-year expenses.
Because the linen was mainly white at the time, Aristide Boucicaud chose to name his operation "the week of white". A week that has progressively become a month and that now touches a much wider range of products, including colored models for example.
